Stop 14: U.S.S. Constitution

We've reached water! If you've made it this far in the tour, you're in for a great treat that you'll only find here in Boston. The U.S.S. Constitution is the oldest commissioned warcraft afloat, first launched in 1797.

She was first used in the Quasi-War and the Barbary War. She notoriously was used in the War of 1812 as well as the American Civil War.

She was retired in 1881 from active service, but remained a shipping vessel until the early 1900's when it became a museum ship. From 1934-1937, she toured the ports of the US.

Today, her spirit stays alive with educational tours, ceremonies, and special events.
